WHAT IS AYURVEDA?
Ayurveda is often referred to as the "sister science" of yoga. One of the oldest known forms of medicine (believed to be over 5000 years old), Ayurveda is a very logical and practical system and science of natural medicine and powerful healing. The Ayurvedic practitioner looks at the root cause of disease (digestion) in order to assist self-healing and optimize the body's natural ability to create total wellness in the individual. An Ayurvedic health counseling plan takes into account all of a person's unique characteristics, including digestion, physical features, and psychological tendencies. In an initial Ayurvedic consultation, we will look at your facial features, body-type, life-long patterns of digestion, sleep, and psychology, among many other attributes unique to YOU. We will analyze these findings to determine your unique, Ayurvedic constitution and find your most balancing diet, exercise, and lifestyle patterns. We will also look at your health challenges, or what is out-of-balance in body and mind, to determine the most supportive plan of action to facilitate self-healing. This plan typically includes specific nutrition, herbal formulas, best exercise modalities, breathing techniques, specific meditations, and many other practices we can explore together to bring you to your most balanced and healthy self. In applying Ayurvedic practices and principles to your daily life, you will create your most peaceful, healthy, and resilient body, mind, and immune system.
