Introduction to Ayurveda Workshop: Nature’s Medicine
Discover the ancient practice and modern-day science of Ayurveda! Join Meghan Hays, Ayurvedic Health Counselor, for a 2.5-hour introductory workshop in which we uncover the self-healing potential of our bodies and the natural world in which we live. Ayurveda is often called the “sister science,” or “healing side,” of yoga. One of the oldest forms of medicine on the planet, Ayurveda originated in India thousands of years ago and is still practiced all over the world today.
Ayurveda is a science, based in Nature, or the elements; it teaches us to align ourselves with the natural rhythms of the sun and seasons. Every part of our lives, including what we eat, how we sleep, what time we exercise, the colors and scents with which we surround ourselves, and so much more, play a part in our health, our well-being, and our body’s natural healing process. You can make each part of your day, from waking to working to sleeping, a healing and supportive practice for your very specific needs and tendencies.
In this workshop, you’ll learn which qualities (doshas) and elements make up your unique physical, psychological, and emotional characteristics. We will shed light on physical, mental, and emotional suffering you might be experiencing in your own life, including, but not limited to, digestive disorders, skin issues, and even worry, fear, or sadness. You will learn which diet, or food choices, daily practices, types of exercise, and tools in nature (aromatherapy, colors, textures, etc.) support your unique Ayurvedic constitution. You'll leave with a brand-new and more compassionate lens through which you view the world, your own body, and those around you.
AND I’ll serve you lunch! I’ll prepare some delicious kitchari, a classic, Ayurvedic dish made with rice, mung beans, veggies, and spices. You can easily prepare this at home anytime you need to improve digestion and “detox” the body from inflammation, pain, and so much more. You’ll leave with a full stomach and a brand-new and more compassionate lens through which you view the world, your own body, and those around you. PLUS you’ll leave with recipes, some homemade digestive tea, and discounts for future Ayurveda services to get you started on your journey to your best health!
To know thyself is to heal thyself. Begin your journey of self-healing: discover the logical, accurate, and spiritual art of Ayurveda!
